What I’m Reading for 2019

I’m a die hard bookworm, it’s in my veins. It’s just a hobby of mine that I can’t get enough of. For this new year’s challenge, I decided to read 25 books for 2019 and I wanted to share what’s on my reading list. Feel free to chime in if you have read some of these or have any recommendations of your own. Some of these books I own, while the others are from the library.

Writing Books

Because I’m working on writing my first novel, I decided to get these two books – Stephen King’s On Writing and Nobody Wants to Read Your Sh*t by Steven Pressfield. I recently read Write Naked by Jennifer Probst and that was pretty good.

Nonfiction

Rising Strong by Brene Brown. This book was on sale at Barnes & Noble so I snatched it right quick. Can’t wait to read it because I love self help books and Brene is a guru. Speaking of gurus, another lady I’m obsessed with is Rachel Hollis who wrote Girl, Wash Your Face. She’s coming out with her second book on self help called Girl, Stop Apologizing. I preordered it and I can’t wait for March to get here so I can dig in.

Fiction

The Light Between Oceans because I want to watch the movie, but I rather read the book first. Little Fires Everywhere looks good too and it’s always on high demand at the library. I have it now but someone is waiting for it, so it’s gonna be late because I’m not sure I’ll finish reading it on time. Also, I heard somewhere that it’s going to be a Hulu series.

Fantasy – Young Adult

Children of Blood and Bone. I checked it out at the library, but didn’t finish it so I bought it. I love it so far and I can’t wait to finish it. It also got a movie deal, so can’t wait for that. Girls of Paper & Fire and The Chemist are on my list for good scifi/fantasy. I can’t get enough of Stephenie Meyer. Song of the Dryad is also fantasy and I even gave my sister a copy for Christmas.

Mystery/Thriller

All The Missing Girls looks good. I love anything with crime/detective stories. Sawkill Girls I’m reading this month and it’s so far so good. Watch Me Disappear is also another thriller, it was on sale so I grabbed it.

Memoir/Self Help

Unfiltered looks intriguing so I bought it. You’re a Badass because I was supposed to finish reading it from the library and when I didn’t, I went ahead and bought the book. Book Girl, You’re Not Lost and Your Story Is Your Power because female empowerment rocks my world.

More Fiction

Sweetbitter, which is a series on Starz that I want to watch, but must read book first. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan looks good, and I can’t wait to watch the movie, but book first.

Cookbook

Also, I bought Magnolia Table last summer and I have yet to make any delicious recipes. I love to cook so definitely going to try a few of these, starting with the biscuits, yum!

So that’s what I’m reading so far in 2019. As you can see, I bought way too many books in 2018 and now I have to make it my absolute mission to not only start reading, but to actually finish reading each and every one. I made a promise to myself that I will not buy another book until I can finish these. Wish me luck! LOL

What are your reading goals, if any, for 2019? Which books are you reading/loving?
