I’m Bella, editor in chief of Bella And The City. To say that I’m over the moon excited you’re here is an understatement. So welcome aboard! I’m a lifestyle blogger from Dallas, TX, but recently moved to Austin! Born and raised in Puerto Rico until age 11 when I moved to Dallas. My world changed for the better for many reasons. For one, I wasn’t a fluent English speaker. Also, I was an outsider and was bullied by fellow classmates who’d never met a Puerto Rican in their Mexican-centered life. So right away I had to overcome adversity and adapt to the culture, which was quite a shock.
Fast forward a few years later, I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. A mouthful I know. Basically, I got my degree in various subjects concentrating in Business Management, Marketing, Psychology, and Spanish. Crazy to think that was 10 years ago. I learned a lot in college, but what I didn’t know is how I was destined to become a writer/blogger.
After getting out of a long term relationship, becoming single for the first time in my adult life felt a lot like a rebirth. I didn’t know who I was, what I wanted or liked, where my life was headed. I was lost. That’s when blogging came in to play and gave me a sense of direction and ignited my passion. It started off as a hobby of course (in my early 20’s), with using platforms such as Livejournal and Vox. Eventually, I branched out to WordPress then back to Blogger when I started my first dating blog: Dateless in Dallas.
But after 3 years, it was time to move on from that name because I felt I was putting the wrong message out to the universe. I found myself still dateless and unhappy being stuck with a niche about dating. I wasn’t interested in blogging about dating anymore because it only made me feel jaded and extremely bitter. I needed a blog-do-over. Thankfully, I was interviewed by a student from SMU who was writing a piece for SMU Fashion Media Blog and she titled my interview – Bella And The City. If that’s not a sign from the universe, I don’t know what is.
In short, I am a coffee addict, shopaholic, absolute computer nerd, dog/animal lover, singer and music enthusiast, travelista, foodie at heart, quiet yet feisty, brutally honest yet sweet, genuine and very down to earth, I’m a big kid at the end of the day. I never want to grow up and not planning to.
About The Blog
So Bella And The City was born in late October (shortly after my birthday) in 2014. It was my first and absolute long awaited lifestyle blog where I can be myself and write about topics I care about. Here you will see me write about books I love to read (and the ones I don’t care for), movies or tv shows that I can’t stop binging on, latest news and updates, monthly goals, weekly motivational quotes, sharing tips and life experiences as I go, all while living in the city of Austin.
I made the switch from Blogger to WordPress as of January 2017 and I’ll never go back. Also, I started my very own Bella And The City insiders newsletter which goes out once a week! When you’re a subscriber to my VIP list you’ll get the inside scoop on behind the scenes exclusives, freebies, more interaction with me personally and just a way for us to connect more intimately in case you have any questions you’d like to send my way.
All that to say is that I am freaking stoked you’re here on my blog and I can’t wait to connect with you. You’re more than welcome to subscribe to my newsletter on the far right on my sidebar under “Subscribe to my newsletter”. Or if you’d like to shoot me an email, feel free to do so: firstname.lastname@example.org
Also, if you’re a social butterfly like me, we can most definitely connect on social media. Drop me a comment on my Instagram, add me on Pinterest, tweet me on Twitter, or shout out on my Facebook page. If you’re into audio apps, call in to my Anchor radio station! I’m pretty much everywhere.
Again, welcome! Make yourself at home because this will be one hell of a fun ride y’all. Wepa! (or Holla!)
